Documenta 12 and new media
I just want to attract the attention at Documenta 12 this year in Kassel. The curators were looking for an artwork that can speak themselves. There are three particular new media artwork in different format that I would like to speak about it.
One of them was James Coleman work. His artwork, with the actor Harvey Keitel, was absolutely spectacular. He adapted in his video art all the characteristics of the classic Greek theatre. You sit there for a while, and then you go up to it and again you think: No, it still isn’t what I thought it was.’ Apart from the great acting, it is a very interesting production and invites you to just sit there and take it all in for a while.In other want we saw Mohamedi work in there we can see that it is not only occident who can speak about art. Her photos in 1960s were really famous in India. What happen then with the “traditional” line of art?
